Comano is situated in the north-west part of Tuscany in the area known as Lunigiana. Named after the Roman town of "Luni" (which is now an archaeological site), this peaceful, unspoilt region is covered in chestnut trees. Lunigiana is perfect for cycling or walking in the mountains. Yet the sandy, cove beaches of the Ligurian coast are only 3/4 hour drive away. |

| This beautiful area abounds in narrow, cobbled medieval 'borgos' or villages such as Tavernelle shown above. This village is a couple of miles from Comano. |

The Ligurian coast is the coastline closest to Lunigiana. Here you may walk the Cinque Terre which are five fishing villages mostly inaccessible by road, or walk in the footsteps of Byron in Lerici or simply lie on the beach. |
